Fairy nonsense

I have been working on a back story for my character in Aglarond. I have received advice from several people and I am going to choose what I think will work for me. First of all, I HAVE to be a dancer. I seem to remember reading many stories of mortals who were enticed to fairy circles and either never left or were danced to their deaths. I think I can do that part very well :-) And of course, I can be silly, heedless, cruel or teasing. Or, as was suggested to me by someone with high hopes, amoral. I have decided against amoral, but I will definitely flirt as well and as much as I can. Silly? yes. Heedless? probably. Cruel? not intentionally. Teasing? oh yes - I will tease all the drow and warriors who dare to dance with me. Will I be able to do this? I don't know - only time will tell. But I do know I am going to try. I started on Sunday at the Queen's Meet and Greet. I teased a drow and made friends with a pirate - what an adventure!

Dancing & Games & Tori

The new booking at Grafton Mall yesterday was a lot of fun. DJ Andromeda Slade played blues in the same fashion that Winston plays. I have been told that Andro is a true music lover with a passion for music that equals mine for dance. He can do any genre I want to dance to - even Broadway! Unfortunately his English is rudimentary and my Italian is non-existent so complicated communications are done through his agent who translates. DeanGrant Caproni, the sim owner, saw me dancing at La Scala one night and decided he wanted me to help him with his events at Grafton Mall. But of course, I need a DJ to dance to,so Dean found DJ Andro for me. I was so worried about dancing to an unknown DJ, but last night everything finally clicked. Andro played nothing that I did not absolutely love! So I now have a regular booking at Grafton Mall every Saturday from 2.30 - 4.30 (SLT). We will be doing different genres each week. And there is the promise of a second booking at Grafton during a week night. :-)

I have been continuing with Tiny Empires and am now a Dame (female equivalent of a Sir). I still have only two subjects and I need to stay at this level if I want to recruit any more, so I guess I will just gather gold for a while and find a peasant to work for me.

And Thursday night I joined the Aglarond Fae. The new Queen of the Fae, Queen Casandra Shilova, has commanded my dance at her Meet and Greet this Sunday afternoon. It is a service I am more than willing to perform for Her, I owe her so much.

I have discovered FaceBook and you can find me there: look for Emyly Beaumont and friend me. I will continue to blog here, but pictures are up at Emyly Beaumont.

Tori Liebling is a very special friend: witty, intelligent, patient and kind. I have known him forever, yet I am just getting to know him. He likes to play and I am taking my cues from him. I love being with him and cannot imagine dancing with anyone else. He took this picture of us and I just love it!

Grumble, grumble SL

Emyly Beaumont sighs. And I had so many things I wanted to do this morning in the 30 minutes I allot to SL before I go in to the office. I was going to try placeing a dance in the Intan ball. I have delayed this experiment because SL has been so unstable lately. And I need to clear cache and warm up all the dances in my HUD. Guess it will have to wait for tonight.

Agent 001

Did you ever have such a wonderful time enjoying someone's company that you lost all track of time? That is what seems to be happening to me lately. I don't want to gush, 'cause he reads my blog, but he is fun to hang out with and teases me often. Last night he tried to get me going with the Scottish Haggis Myth... (Yeah and I believe in Nessie too!) Anyway, he doesn't know it, but he is showing me how to relax and play. It is making Emy a better person and trickling down into RL as well.

He wore a kilt to the 007 hour yesterday: he said he had just returned from a mission to Glasgow. And ladies, he has great legs. Emyly Beaumont sighs. I just looove men in skirts. It takes a confident man to wear a tunic or a kilt and confidence is very sexy. Q and M promoted him to Agent 001. (001 has been missing in action for over 7 years.) So we sent him off to China to track down a rumor of microfilm being hidden in diamonds...

Today I will try to load my Intan Couples Dance ball. It scares me a little, so I think I will do one set first and then see if it works.

Broadway

I love show tunes and my dance HUD is filled with dramatic lively dances that are perfect for dancing Broadway style. And last night I did a two hour Broadway show tunes set at Swoon. OMG! I had so much fun I lost myself in the dance again ... I hope no one noticed! And I was stumped by DJ Lilith Canning; she pulled out a song I had never heard before and I was lost. Many of the B'way songs have speech interspersed by changes in tempo from slow to fast and are very challenging for me - particularly since I have to flip through 15 pages of dances to find the routines. But I had a blast and went to sleep happy and with a smile on my face. And I dreamed of a very charming AV I have been hanging out with so I woke with a smile on my face too.

Tiny Empires

I confess. I started playing yesterday. It is sort of fun. Unfortunately, the game HUD replaces my dance HUD when it attaches, so I can't do both at the same time. But with any luck, I won't get a call when I am dancing... Now I need to figure out the game. I currently have 4 acres of land and am still a peasant, but if I acquire another acre, I will become a squire and my homage to my liege lord will go down to 8. As a peasant I pay 9 gold per acre per month to my liege Sir Johnie Sosa (who hasn't been online much but is a very cute neko). So my first personal goal is to buy one more acre at advantageous prices. My second goal is to recruit a subject so I can be paid homage! I am not a great game player - but I can go at my own speed in this one.

Hehe - goal met. I have one subject and I am a squiress! woot!

New Year - New Prospects

I spent most of New Year's Day looking for new clubs to dance at. I set myself a goal of contacting 10 club owners/managers and offering my choreography services. Search is an awesome tool to find clubs, but to really check them out, you need to see them. Some of them had good traffic but lag when completely empty. And many of the land owners had increased the Agent Limit on the land to accommodate more than the recommended 40 AVs. I can understand that clubs want lots of traffic, but at the same time the patrons want to be able to rez and move within a reasonable amount of time after landing. And I, of course, need to load at no less than 10.0 fps. I change scripts 2-3 times a minute when I choreo so even a 2 second lag time blows my timing! Anyway, I tp'd in to about 35 blues/jazz clubs before I met my goal. There was some interest in my services, but when I mentioned my fee (which is very reasonable) I was met with the standard: "Oh, my DJs work for tips alone. We don't pay salary." And I look at the events board and see the names of Live Entertainment (which seems to include only singers, not DJs or choreographers) and I know that these Live Acts get paid several thousands of linden for an hour! I wonder why DJs work for tips alone if they are any good. Is it because there are so many wannabes out there?

Any way, I managed to get a trial run at Swoon. A great DJ: TinaMarie (can't remember her last name) who did a really fun 70's set. Lots of new people to meet and a few names out of the past again: Gray, Ariel, Rollem, just to name a few. And of course my faithful duo - Bilbo and Starr, two lovely people who like to dance. I will be doing an 80's show (on trial again) at Swoon this coming Wednesday at 6 SLT with TinaMarie so be sure to look me up.

But while I was there last night, I connected with a club owner who DJs and who is interested in using me while he gigs and didn't bat at eye at my mention of my very reasonable fee. He is a name out of the long ago and I will have to be sure to catch his shows. He says he plays my type of music so we will see.

I caught up with Ariel yesterday and it was good. Like me, she has been rethinking her role in SL, but I am hoping that the dance will keep her. She knows songs much better than I do because she was exposed to so much music in RL. So the combination of dance and music should make her a good choreographer. SL can certainly use more of us - as long as we can get fairly paid for our unique talents! Dances are not free and neither is rent. I can get along without new dresses, but I still need to have a place to change in privacy, to build/repair my equipment and to chat with friends.
